Where to stay in Jasná: north, south or Lúčky?

A local's guide · updated 21. 9. 2026 · Resort Lúčky reception team

The short answer

If you want to ski straight after breakfast and enjoy some peace, look for accommodation on the north side of Jasná near one of the base stations – Záhradky or Lúčky. If you'd rather be closer to Liptovský Mikuláš, the aquaparks and Liptovská Mara, you can stay lower down in the Demänovská Valley and drive or take the ski bus to the slopes.

Jasná is the largest ski resort in Slovakia and spreads across both sides of Chopok. So when you choose where to stay, it isn't just the price that matters – above all, it's how far you'll be from the lift every morning.

Jasná North – Záhradky and Lúčky

The north side is the historic heart of Jasná, in the upper part of the Demänovská Valley. It's home to the two main base areas – Záhradky and Lúčky. Záhradky is busier, with more shops and après-ski. Lúčky is quieter, with easier parking and slopes that suit families too. From Lúčky, the six-seater Horalky Expres chairlift connects you to the rest of the ski resort.

Jasná South – Srdiečko and Kosodrevina

The south side of Chopok is sunnier and has less accommodation. It's popular with skiers who want wide slopes and southern views. From Liptov, however, the drive round to the south is longer, so many guests stay on the north side and cross over by lift via Chopok.

Lower in the valley and in Liptovský Mikuláš

Guesthouses and apartments lower down the Demänovská Valley tend to be cheaper, but you'll be dealing with parking or the ski bus every day. The upside is being close to Tatralandia, the caves and the town.

What to look for when choosing

1. The actual distance to the lift in metres, not just ‘nearby’.

2. Parking – is it on site, and how much does it cost?

3. A kitchenette or an on-site restaurant – no need to go anywhere after skiing.

4. A spa – a sauna after skiing is the best way to recover.

5. Booking direct – prices on the accommodation's own website are often lower than on booking sites.

Jasná accommodation 150 m from the lift

Resort Lúčky is 150 m from the Horalky Expres chairlift, with chalets, apartments and studios for 2 to 5 guests, a spa and a restaurant.

FAQ

Is it better to stay on the north or the south side of Jasná?

The north side has more accommodation, amenities and transport links. The south is sunnier and quieter, but with less choice. Most guests stay on the north side and cross to the south by lift via Chopok.

Can you ski from the north side to the south?

Yes, the two sides are linked by lifts over Chopok. Bear in mind that in strong winds the lifts on the ridge may be closed.

Where to stay in Jasná with children?

Ideally near gentle slopes and a ski school – for example in the Lúčky area, which is quieter and has parking right by your accommodation.
